tv makes you smarter

1. The author is assumig that everyone who reads this article watches tv which is mainly true

2. It shows that it is for something and not just for the heck of it

3. Trubey makes tv seem like it is unbeatable and will always overcome because it is and too many people watch it for it to ever be taken down

4. Johnson shows his counter argument and then soon after proves them wrong with much evidence.

5. WIth tv’s doing more and more these days tv is becoming more and more intellectual.

Cloning

Yes…1. Humans are playing god by creating life. Something we are not meant to do

2. Cloning one human would mean completely affecting the world with the people around them like friends and family and even enemies

3. Now getting married and having sex to reproduce is completely eliminated because cloning would be technology making human beings, not humans making humans

But….Cloning would be amazing for the technological world considering we feel they are not like humans so we can use them for the dirty work so that “real” humans are not being used. We can test things more easily now that we have these clones to be test dummys

Chapter 9. Finally!!!

1. Mr. Gatz talks about how his son is a very organized person and kept to his schedule even though it was a tough schedule to fill, filled with a lot of activities. He was a hardworking boy at the time and through his hard work he pursued and he came out of that lower class his family was in. He rose out of the cellar and went up through the ranks to gain fame and money.

2. Gatsby is not the man Nick thought he was. He now feels bad for the man after he realizies how many friends he doesn’t have. He was all in all a good man and Nick saw this but too late. He was dead but that is what it took for him to realize this about Gatsby. The audience finds out that he was a really organized person with his journal of what he does everyday. He was a good kid and a good man.

3. White is used often with a few girls like Daisy and Jordan. The white shows their beauty on the outside that everyone sees but on the inside they are really ugly with their lies and deception. They portray themselves as the perfect American girls but as we went through out the book we noticed how corrupt they really were.

I Have completed an assignment! i have many more to conquer with so little time to do it, but i will win! Good night

Chapter 8

1. In two chapters in a row the American dream is “acheived” but then when Gatsby wants more the dream ends. In a way Fitzgerald is trying to say that be happ with what you have and not to try so hard for somthing you proabably wont get. This causes the loss of that dream and in Gatsby’s case the loss of his life. He was trying so hard for Daisy’s love that in the end, the dream he had of the two of them was crushed.

2. Fitzgerald explains that Daisy was froced into her marriage with Tom because of his high social class. Daisy also is in that high social class so it would be forbidden to marry someone in a lower social class then her. Even though she obviously loves Gatsby more this Social ladder has taken over her life and caused her to marry a man she does not really love instead of the poor man she was madly in love with (Gatsby).

 3. “…That yellow car…” Yet again Gatsby’s car is mentioned again but as yellow. Usually if you have money you are safe from all. Money corrupts everything around us and this is what it has done to Gatsby. The thing is though that it shows that even if you have money you can finally be caught doing something worng just as Gatsby did even though Daisy was driving. She is also apart of that upper class that never thinks about getting caught. Wilson found his car and shot Gatsby right on the spot without confrontation. It shows that even the rich don’t always have a way out.

Chapter 7

1. Myrtle is dead!!!! She is the pefect example of the American Dream. She had the family and the pefect husband as she thought. But she was having an affair with Tom and she wanted him more than anything. This symbolizes that once you have achieved your own dream that you want more and more, if it is even possible to achieve your American dream because you seem to want more and more as you keep receiving what you had once wanted. She also tried to achieve all of this too fast and saw it all crash down. Well she didn’t really see it coming considering she was killed. The American dream can come so fast but lso be taken away just as fast if not faster.

2. Tom has finally let out all that built up anger and has showed the bull inside of him. He has generally been decent through out the book but he loses it all here. He is fed up with Daisy and Gatsby. He had one of those senses about him since the very begining. One of those feelings you get about someone and you know they are know good, this is what Tom has about Gatsby. He lets it all out on him and they go into a little shouting match. Tom does nothing to Gatsby because if he did she would run to Gatsby and take care of him while she would resent Tom and be very upset with him. This would definitely ruin their marriage that is already going down hill.

3. “Her voice is full of money,” he said suddenly.

Nick finally realizes omething about Daisy that he has known his whole life but not relly known. It is thrown ou on the table that she is a gold digger and she is only in for the money which she married Tom for. She goes alongside with gold with her need for money. As my fellow classmate Robyn says,”Like money, she can make situations better or worse.” Thank you Robyn.

Sorry that last post was Chapter 6

:o

1. As more and more of Gatsby’s past is discovered Nick finds out that Gatz came from a rather poor family and it seems as though his parents never really loved him. LIke they thought he was weird in a way. This shows the true American dream, coming from somewhere where you have no money and going to somewhere else where you make a good and more than livable amont of money. He achieves this with great success and shows it more than often.

2. Yet another devolopmen of Gatsby. This one is yet another bad one too. Nick is revealed the major parts of Gatsby’s past. He was never always rich and his family did not all go to Oxford. He earned all his money through illegal and legal matters with the shady people he was involved with. Nick finds out that he only went to Oxford because he was sent there by the army to get an education after serving in the war. NIck also learns that Dan Cody is Jay Gatz’s mentor.

3. ” And if you want to take down any addresses here’s my little gold pencil….” Gold pencils are not a very common utencil for writing. More like it is old an antique like the means=ing of gold in this book. Daisy has been in this higher class all her life and ran into more money when she married Tom instead of Gatsby.

Chapter 5

1. This is when Gatsby and Daisy re-meet eachother after a few years since Gatsby left for the war. This shows that when you come to America you also look for love alongside a good home. To complete the American dream is to have a Beautiful wife or husband and loving family. This is exactly what Gatsby plans for the two of them. He obviously wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

2. This is when we see Gatsby as more vonerable. Before this chapter he is seen as someone who always has to tell a story and brag about himself. He really loves this girl ever since he first met her and he has no clue what to do. ” This is a terrible mistake”, says Gatsby. It is a very awkward eeting between the two of them. This is a more likable side of GAtsby that the audience gets to see instead of his normal arrogant self.

3.  Many colors are used throughout this chapter and mainly all of them express Gatsby and how he tries to impress. Mainly he tries to impress Daisy, especially when he wears his flanel suit, silver shirt, and gold tie. These all show how wealthy he is and it impresses Daisy very much.

Chapter 4

1. In the first paragraph it talks about church bells ringing and going back to Gatsby’s house. When some people think of the American Dream they think of going to church with the family and afterwards spending time with family and/or friends. event though the time was full of partying and having fun there was a strong church movement too. Most people were part of both sides of the spectrum.

2. This chapter is when we find more and more about Gatsby but Nick does not like it when Gatsby talks about himself because he feels he is lying. Nick has good reasons to believe these stories are false beacause Jordan tells Nick it is a lie and these stories also seem too extreme to be true. ” I was bought up in America but educated at Oxford because al my ancestors have been educated there for many years.” This is just one of the many stories Gatsby tells about himself that Nick does not have total faith in.

3. Gatsby’s car is greean on the inside and creme on the outside, signifying new money which is what Gatsby really is and the cream represents how Gatsby tells Nick that his family is very wealthy and he has always had money. In truth we all know that the outside money of Gatsby is a lie because th money he has, he has made himself without his families help.

Chapter 3

1. “On week-ends his Rolls-Royce became an omnibus…” The Rolls-Royce is oe of the most expensive automobiles around in that time. This shows his great wealth. The dream is plain and simple, to have a car and home but Gatsby has a luxery item for a car and a mansion for a house.

2. This is the chapter when we finally find a little more about Gatsby or anything “true” about the man. Before only stories rumored around about him. So far he been a complete mystery with only small details abou thim in the previous two chapters. He seems like a very ineteresting man as he tells more and more about himself including how he served in the same division as Nick in the war.

3. Fitzgerald uses yellow a few times in this chapter, like how these two girls were wearing yellow dresses but he never described what anyone else was wearing. These girls were meant to entertain and be fun and talkative. He also mentions “…yellow cocktail music”. This music is up beat and fun just as the girls are. The color is a fun color and is used as though it goes in the place of joyful.
